The Malta Global Residence Program (GRP) is a tax residency scheme designed to attract high-net-worth individuals from outside the European Union, European Economic Area and Switzerland.
On offer through the regime is a reduced tax rate of just 15% on foreign-sourced income that is remitted to Malta. Foreign income that is not remitted to Malta, is not taxed in Malta. This makes for a compelling proposition for foreign investors seeking a favourable tax environment, a high quality of life and the opportunity to establish a base within the EU.
The program is thoroughly outlined in the Malta Global Residence Programme Rules, a set of regulations firmly anchored in the country’s Income Tax Act and Legal Notice 267 of 2014. This robust legal framework ensures transparency and accountability, providing applicants with a clear understanding of their rights and obligations.
